The shopkeeper is the main operator of the market in an economic center in Sri Lanka.&#13;
In order to maintain the functioning of the market well, it was identified as a problem that&#13;
needs to be focused on which factors affect the satisfaction of the shopkeeper regarding&#13;
the market activities. Accordingly, the research problem of study is what factors affect on&#13;
the satisfaction of shopkeepers regarding the market activities. The study population is&#13;
all shopkeepers of the economic centers in Sri Lanka. Shopkeepers in Dambulla&#13;
Economic Center were selected as the sample using cluster sampling technique. Data&#13;
were gathered using an interviewer administered questionnaire and interview method.&#13;
Quantitative data were analyzed using independent two-sample t-test, one-way analysis&#13;
of variance and structural equation modeling. The simple index was constructed to&#13;
identify the levels of satisfaction. Findings of the study revealed that the average&#13;
satisfaction of the shopkeepers regarding the market activities was identified as 55.4%.&#13;
Among the demographic factors that have an effect on satisfaction, it was confirmed that&#13;
the age factor and the profit earned through the economic center show a relationship on&#13;
satisfaction. In taking into consideration the physical facilities of the economic center,&#13;
existing relationship with manufacturers and the existing relationship between&#13;
wholesalers, it could be identified that only the existing relationship with manufacturers&#13;
has an effect on satisfaction. According to the findings of the study it can be concluded&#13;
that the Dambulla Economic Center operates on the commission system, the producer's&#13;
ability to bargain on the selling price of agricultural products has an effect on the&#13;
satisfaction of the market activities

<title>Historic Total Fertility Rates of Sri Lanka (1960 – 2021) and Future Trends</title>
<link>http://dr.lib.sjp.ac.lk/handle/123456789/13029</link>
<description>Historic Total Fertility Rates of Sri Lanka (1960 – 2021) and Future Trends
De Silva, K.T. N.; Kuruppuge, H.W.; Manel, D.P.K.
Fertility is one of the key components that determine the population change in Sri Lanka.&#13;
Total Fertility Rates (TFR) are the average number of children a woman would have by the&#13;
end of her childbearing years (15-49) if she bore children at the current age-specific&#13;
fertility rates. The average has been declining over the past decade in Sri Lanka. It is&#13;
essential to understand the trends and patterns of TFR in that aspect to enhance the&#13;
quality of predetermined long-term economic, health and educational plans as well the&#13;
policy implements in the country. The main objective of the study is to identify the trends&#13;
and patterns of historic Total Fertility Rates of Sri Lanka (1960 – 2021) and future trends.&#13;
The study carries out based on the secondary data on TFR extracted from World Bank&#13;
data (1960-2021). Initially, the univariate time series analysis was utilized to identify the&#13;
pattern of TFR using the R Statistical software. This study revealed that there is a&#13;
decreasing future trend in TFR using ARIMA (1, 2, 1) model which was fitted as the best&#13;
model to forecast the future behavior TFR. The fitted model was. The forecasted TFR&#13;
values for the period from 2022 to 2026 were 1.9577, 1.9372, 1.9167, 1.8963 and&#13;
1.8758 respectively. It is suggested to have a comparative study on fertility trends and&#13;
patterns with consideration of socioeconomic and cultural factors in Sri Lanka since TFR&#13;
varies due to socioeconomic and cultural diversity.

<description>Factors affecting the Gender- based Consumer purchase intention towards Ethical Fashion (A case study on undergraduates of the University of Sri Jayewardenepura)
Wijeratne, P. A. D. N. N.; Manel, D. P. K.
The study examines the factors affecting the gender-based&#13;
consumer purchase intention towards ethical fashion in Sri Lanka.&#13;
Primary data was gathered using self-administrated&#13;
questionnaire through online platform and physically. Sample of&#13;
the study was selected using stratified and simple random&#13;
sampling techniques through undergraduates from three selected&#13;
faculties of the University of Sri Jayewardenepura. Sample size of&#13;
the study was 371 respondents including 228 female and 143 male&#13;
undergraduates. Both descriptive analysis and Structural&#13;
Equation Modelling (SEM) method were applied for the&#13;
quantitative data. Findings of the study revealed that both the&#13;
female and male consumers have an identical level of awareness&#13;
regarding the ethical fashion market and related scopes. The&#13;
respondents of the study have a positive impression on ethical&#13;
fashion concept, and they believe that the concept itself is&#13;
necessary for the betterment of the society and environment.&#13;
Attitudes and beliefs regarding ethical fashion and subjective&#13;
norms were identified as the major factors which affect the&#13;
purchase intention towards ethical fashion among the consumers.&#13;
Furthermore, it was found that gender doesn’t have any moderate&#13;
effect in determining the consumers’ purchase intention towards&#13;
ethical fashion in the young adult consumers in Sri Lanka.&#13;
Findings of the study suggested that the fashion industry should&#13;
implement new methods to motivate the purchasing intention of&#13;
young customers. Also, such methods should promote the core&#13;
values of ethical fashion concept as most of the consumers are not&#13;
aware about those and for the expansion of the ethical fashion&#13;
industry.

<title>ATTITUDES TOWARDS THE APPRAISAL OF ACADEMICS’ EMPLOYMENT PERFORMANCE IN PUBLIC UNIVERSITIES IN SRI LANKA</title>
<link>http://dr.lib.sjp.ac.lk/handle/123456789/12910</link>
<description>ATTITUDES TOWARDS THE APPRAISAL OF ACADEMICS’ EMPLOYMENT PERFORMANCE IN PUBLIC UNIVERSITIES IN SRI LANKA
Kanthi, M. D. P.
This study examined the attitudes toward the performance appraisal&#13;
of academics of public universities in Sri Lanka. The sample was&#13;
selected using stratified and simple random sampling techniques.&#13;
The sample size was 300 and it was allocated proportionately based&#13;
on the designations of the teaching staff: Professor, Senior Lecturer&#13;
and Lecturer. A questionnaire was used as a tool to gather the&#13;
required data from the sample. The study employed a descriptiveanalytical method and Principle Component Analysis (PCA) for&#13;
analysing the quantitative data. According to the information which&#13;
is sent by the respondents through open-ended questions of the&#13;
questionnaires, the study revealed the need for a proper appraisal&#13;
method to measure employee performance. Results of the descriptive&#13;
analysis indicated the nature of the demographic characteristics of&#13;
the respondents and their performance and achievements in the&#13;
higher education field. Using PCA constructed three models for&#13;
attitudes on existing methods related to promotion and motivation,&#13;
socialization and orientation, and performance appraisal of academic&#13;
staff members. Total variation of existing promotion and motivation&#13;
methods, socialization, and orientation, the current performance&#13;
appraisal method was described as 91.92%, 82.96%, and 94.13%&#13;
respectively. The study concluded the importance of a proper&#13;
appraisal method to measure the academic performances and&#13;
administrative performance of members of the academic staff of the&#13;
public universities in Sri Lanka.
