Gender Differences of Human Resource Professionals in the Sri Lankan Private Sector
De Silva, K.T.J.
Gender, gender identity and gender differences are discussed by different scholars in
different contexts for different purposes as a popular concept today. However, in the
available literature, there is no any single finding on which gender most prefers to be
Human Resource professionals. There are couple of studies aimed to discuss sex
categories of HR professionals. Therefore, the problem of the study is: which gender
prefers to be HR professionals in the Sri Lankan private sector organizations. This
study selected 100 HR professionals as the sample, representing private sector
organizations in Sri Lanka and data were gathered using Bem Sex Roll Inventory
(BSRI) scale developed by Bem. The majority of the HR professionals in the private
sector were male sex – typed and it was more than 50% of the sample. Androgynous
type of gender presented by the HR professionals in the private sector was 20% and
same percentage of HR professionals was presented undifferentiated gender type.
There was no any single HR professional in female sex – typed gender.

The Impact of Emotional Intelligence on Psychological Well- being of Public and Private Sector Executives Perspective of Postgraduate Students
Rathnakara, K.A.K.S.
Employees in any kind of an organization have to deal with a range of tasks, duties
and responsibilities. In order to accomplish their individual objectives and
organizational objectives successfully, employees are required to possess a set of
competencies and a required level of intelligence. With the evolution of the concept of
intelligence, emotional intelligence has become one of the more influential concepts.
It demonstrates the ability to monitor ones’ own and others’ feelings and emotions to
discriminate among them and to use this information to guide ones’ thinking and
action. Researches in this field have uncovered many relationships between
emotional intelligence and different human behavior. The objective of this study was
to investigate the nature of the relationship between emotional intelligence and
psychological well-being of public and private sector executives who are following
masters’ degrees from recognized national universities. A sample consisting of 200
participants has taken into consideration and the analysis is conducted by using 182
questionnaires. A structured questionnaire has used to collect primary data for the
study. The univariate and bivariate analysis were used to analyze primary data and
the major finding of the study was that there is a moderate positive relationship
between emotional intelligence and psychological well-being of executives in the
sample. Also there is a significant positive impact of emotional intelligence on
psychological well-being. Emotionally intelligent employees will possess a higher
level of psychological well-being and it will positively impact on their success of their
work as well as non-work life.

Importance of Corporate Vision
Suranga, J.M.
The business environment of today is characterized as both dynamic and complex. As
a result of that, commercial organizations face fierce competition on all fronts. To
deal with strategic planning in this businesses environment has become difficult and
corporate vision has been discussed as a major concept which is needed for survival
and growth. Formulating of a corporate vision is considered as the first step of the
strategic management process. This research paper discusses theoretical and
empirical research findings about the corporate vision and how researchers did
identify its importance.
