Multiphase flow regime transition in vertical flow

Abstract

The objective of this project is to characterize flow regimes in air-water two-phase flow based on pressure and density measurements and find the criteria for the transition between flow regimes using pressure and density parameters. Time series analysis of the liquid holdup and pressure differences, as well as video recording and visual observation, has been used to characterize the flow regime and find boundary condition for flow regime transition. The average liquid hold up at the bottom of the riser should be in the range of 0.62-0.72, and the pressure difference is approximately 107 mbar. If both of the above conditions are satisfied, then the flow regime should be a slug
