dc.description.abstract This plan provides a framework to conserve the Hambantota sand dunes with a view to maximize the environmental, social and economic benefits to the society while ensuring that conservation and development. Accordingly, the plan expects to: (a) conserve the biological diversity of the dunes to enhance the environmental quality of the dune zone; (b) ensure public safety by protecting and maintaining the dune system as a natural barrier against erosion and coastal floods; (c) prevent loss and degradation of sand dunes due to human interventions; (d) minimize environmental impacts from development activities; and (e) prevent or minimize coastal pollution concernning as a natural heritage en_US, si_LK
