Abstract:
The study area described here is situated between Kalametiya Lagoon and Bundala Lake in the
southern part of Sri Lanka between Kalametiya Lagoon and Bundala Lake. Whole Holocene shell
beds lie on flat terrain (between msl and 3 m level). It has a slope of 1/20 or 10 (64:1 of 10021 in
gradient). This study attempts to analyze the geo-archaeological significance of these Holocene
shell beds which has not been concern of any previous study. Kevelation of these aspects would
be of great significance for promotion of geo-archaeological and palaeo-environmental research.
